Sanitary Sewer/Water System Planning and Design
Plan Ahead, Plan Smart
Infrastructure planning is one of the most important tasks facing your community. Proactive planning is the best way to save time and money, and avoid unforeseen complications. Ruekert/Mielke has completed thousands of sanitary sewer and water main projects. Available services include planning, design, construction administration and construction review. Projects include development of new systems to provide service to communities currently without service, and extensions to existing systems as well as replacement or rehabilitation of existing facilities.
System planning for both sanitary sewer and water systems produces a document that evaluates multiple infrastructure, financial, legal and administrative factors. Plans consider and recommend the general location, size and capacity of major water transmission mains and sewer lines, pumping stations, treatment and storage facilities, possible consolidation, upgrading, and/or abandonment of existing facilities, and the possible construction of new or expanded treatment facilities. Studies also consider the legal, fiscal, administrative and intergovernmental problems inherent in the development of adequate sanitary sewer and water supply facilities in the study area. Recommendations are developed to identify the agencies to be responsible for the construction, operation, and maintenance of each component of the system, and the intergovernmental arrangements required to implement the system plans. Studies also offer recommendations concerning capital, operating/maintenance cost allocations and fee structures.
Sanitary sewer and/or water system plans have been completed for the Cities of Oconomowoc and Pewaukee, and the Villages of Mukwonago and Menomonee Falls.
